I just bought a LG 8120B CDRW. It had some good reviews and supports overburning. I use Nero 5.5 to burn Vcd's the one's I write with this LG don't play in my dvd while the same burns with my HP9100 play just fine. I haven't gotten any vcd's to work. Is there something special you have to do? Any help would be appreciated, or should I just return this thing. It writes Data Cd's and Audio cd's okay.

can u play it on windows media player? Is it the same cd-r media or is your dvd player cd-r compatible? Are u making compliant vcd or xvcd? Have u used nero before and is it the same program u used for your other vcd's?

I have an apex ad3201 It reads cdr and cdrw's. The mpegs play on windows media before i burn them. I've made lots of vcd's in the past that play just fine. The vcd's are not vcd compliant though. The one's that do work are the same bitrate though as the new ones i tried to burn with the LG burner.I use 1150 kb for video and 128kb for audio usually. I'm trying a cd copy of a working vcd hopefully it works. Media has never been a problem for my dvd, it plays pretty much anything. Get this I did a cd copy of a working vcd with the hp as the reader and the LG as the writer it completed with no errors but the vcd doesn't play in dvd player. I then erased the vcd and used the LG as the reader and the HP as the writer and the vcd works the media in both were the same a memorex 80min cdrw. I noticed on LG's home page of the writer http://www.lgeus.com/Product/CD/ced_8120b.asp
for vcd format there's an asterik which says it needs a separate interface card is needed to write vcd I have no idea what is meant by that though. -
well it is definatly ur cdrw drive that is the problem if u need a interface card..Not sure what that means or why u would need one...That really sux if u need something else just to burn a vcd...i wonder why would they do that? Well good luck

I have the same CDRW (LG 8120B) and I can burn VCDs and SVCDs on CD-R or CD-RW that play fine in my standalone Pioneer DVD. And I don't need any separate interface card. I use VCDImager Easy and CDRWin to burn my VCDs rather than Nero. Maybe you could try that.
