I don't understand how to make chapters in TMPGEnc DVD Authoring. I added my video and then I went to the chapter edit screen. I selected certain frames to add to Chapter List. I also selected the start and end times of several different scenes. I clicked ok, but the list still shows one track. Why is that? In the menu creation, it says that I have only one chapter. Please help! Here is what I did step by step:
1. Add File
2. Chapter Cut Edit
3. Select start/end times for prologue.
4. Added the first frame of the part to the chapter list.
5. Click ok.
6. Add File
7. Chapter Cut Edit
8. Select start/end times for prologue.
9. Added the first frame of the part to the chapter list.
10. Click ok.
I did that 6 times since there are 6 parts to each episode. But the end results was not smooth. It would play the first part (prologue in this case) and then when that part ends, the frame freezes and then the next part plays. How do I get it not to freeze?
I am wondering if I am supposed to go to Add File for each different chapter.![]()

First, you do "Add File" only once, when you have one movie.
Second, you select star/end times only if you want to make DVD from only a part of your mpg file -- not to create chapters.
To create chapters, on "Chapter list" click "Add" and add your chapters in the "Add chapter" menu.
When done, to see whether all went well, first play your DVD file from your hard drive. Than burn it to RW media and only after you've seen that all is well burn it to R media. -
No, I'm not trying to make automatic chapters. There are certain points in the episode itself such as the Opening Credits, Prologue, Ending Credits, etc.

If you are trying to add several episodes to one disc, you can either add all the episodes (to the same track) then add chapters to the result or add chapters while you add each episode. The results will be the same.
To add a chapter, move the pointer on the timeline to where you would like a chapter then click the "Add current frame to chapter". This puts a chapter point at the location of the pointer on the timeline. The start and end frames are for deleting scenes, not adding chapters.
Since TMPGEnc DVD Author is not an encoder, when you add files together or remove content, there will be a small freeze between cuts/joins in your video. Some players may skip it. I believe most standalone players will freeze momentarily. To prevent the freezing, you will need to reencode the files to one file before importing into DVD Author.
