Why not save a step and use dvdshrink to rip and downsize?

  6. I suppose you could. It would work. But when I tried Pirates of the Carribean, it estimated it would take something like 20 hours. I ripped in DVD Decrypter and then used Shrink and it was done in less than half an hour.

wow. I'm relatively new to this so I haven't compared times yet between the two - but it's funny you mention POTC, cause thats what I'm about to backup next. I'll see what I come up with. I've read some posts that said decrypter is more reliable, too? I just thought that using shrink to reauthor and decrypt would save some time, compared to ripping and then shrinking.

  8. If you already have the files on your hard drive, Load up DVD Shrink and hit OPEN and head over to your VIDEO_TS folder and hit OK.

After you sort things out in DVD Shrink (what you wanna keep, what you don't want, etc) hit BACKUP and under Target select ISO Disc Image and check Launch DVD Decrypter to Burn the Output Image. You can also enable Deep Analysis if you want better quality under Backup Options.

Presto! Just insert a blank disc and hit burn on DVD Decrypter.

    No need re-rip redundant images.

  9. Oh yeah. I forgot Dhrink can now output ISO images. It doesn't help me though since I use Win98. So I use ImgTool Classic which splits it up to 1gb pieces. So yeah, unless you are running FAT32 HDDs then use Shrink to make the ISOs.

  10. The biggest problam i have is that if i use dvd shrink to downsize then i only get 52% and its pretty poor.i need atleast 60- 70% i need a way of cutting out all the junk like special fetures and the audio where the director talks all the way through it.Is there a program that lets me cut out specail fetures and lets me just have the main movie and menus? i think its 7-8gig im trying to downsize.

DVDShrink. Re-Author, then select the movie only. Remove unnecesary audio tracks. You'll probably have to reduce the quality a BIT but not as much when the extras are all gone.

If you're gunna rip the extras and extra audio tracks, why do you need the menus? Am I missing something here?
