  1. I have converted all my old VHS home movies to DVDs chronicling them mostly by year. The DVDs will have menus for events such as Birthdays, Christmas, Holidays etc. I saved all the rendered DVD files on my hard drive.

My question is: I would like to make a DVD for family members with events pertinent to them from several different rendered DVDs files. I notice in the saved files the different menu events on a DVD are in the Video_TS folder (never seems to be anything in the Audio_TS folder).

Can I make a new DVD w/menus etc. using the event files (VTS_*_*.IFO and BUP) of interest to individual family members such as a camping trip on one DVD and a birthday on another.

You can use DVD Author to open the files in VIDEO_TS and edit them.

There's never anything in the AUDIO_TS folder for standard DVD.

  4. I should add that I'm using Vegas Video and DVD Architect. I also have Studio 8 and Roxio CD-DVD Creator. For the most part I have already edited the video on the original DVDs and will use the the entire sequence. I would prefer a method that does not re-render the video so it will not degrade it.

  5. Again I should add that I rendered these all in 16x9 aspect ratio so the DVD would be proportional on my TV. The program would have to support 16x9.

  6. Tried NeroVision 2 and unfortunately Ahead software is as buggy as always. I stopped using Nero years ago because it would not play nice with EZ CD Creator and it appears that nothing has changed. Still have not been able to "complete" a DVD before the software locks up.

    Any other suggestions?

  7. I have been using this program to cut/join my mpg2 files

    http://www.drdsystems.com/VideoReDo/FeaturesOverview.htm

says it can handle vob's too.

It does not reencode, so no loss in quality, and it is fast.

Try MPEG-VCR from Womble Multimedia www.womble.com there's a 30 day full functional trial version. It open VOB's and is a very stable cutter joiner with transitions. It also has a video clip list in the tools menu that takes your clips and joins them into one big file without re-encoding. Also very good Audio/Video synch.
