  1. I am a DVD Noobie. I just purchased my first DVD burner. It is a HP DVD215i. Only a DVD+R(W) at 2.4 speed. Both attempts at DVD video have worked and played in three different standalone players.

I also have an Emprex 4 speed drive ordered. It was ordered prior to my HP, put on waitlist, but shipped before I could cancel.

The 4 speed sounds good, but having read this and other forums the past few days, I am worried about which one to keep.

The Emprex seems to be a rebadged BTC. Opinion seems to vary widely on that unit.

Which burner should I keep and which should I sell? I don't care about speed, so much as playability on as many DVD players as possible.

    Thanks!

Here's a thread you might want to look at:

No real opinion (don't have experience with either one) but

#1 Your experience with the HP has been good so far
#2 The Emprex/BTC should be easier to return (right ?)
#3 At least some people are experiencing problems with Exprex
#4 Hp Driver support is pretty good (don't know about BTC)

  4. Sorry if I posted this in the wrong forum. I am a noobie to everything, including this site and still learning.

Moderators, feel free to move this thread.

Jayhawk, thanks for the response. I am thinking along the same line. I actually have a buyer for whichever one I get rid of, I just want to keep the best one.

    Thanks!

If anyone has any experiences or additional info, please let me know.
