  1. I transferred a family video onto a dvd+rw using a Cyberhome 1500 and would like to make a backup of this using my computer. I have had some suggestions from people on the forum about this and still no luck. Is there anyone else out there with more suggestions on what I can use and how to go about this? By the way, I have a menu selection on this dvd+rw and would like to copy it just the way it is. Please Help!

Yeah if it's a homemade DVD it would have no copy protection or anything. Just use whatever DVD writing software you have and do a 1 to 1 copy of it. That should do the trick.

  4. Tried that and it doesn't work. I was told that a desktop dvd recorder does not write the same way as a pc writer and so the folders are different.

Are you saying it was made in a Standalone DVD recorder?

  6. try using DVD shrink to copy the video to your HDD, then burn it from the HDD to DVD. I have trouble with stuff that a friend of mine records on his Sony Standalone, and sends to me to add menus etc. Any program I try to open the video with, especially TMPGEnc DVD Author gives me what looks to be an error message in Japanese. Using the medthod described above, it allows me to copy the DVDs as-is.

The easiest and cheapest way (well its free so can't be any cheaper...lol) is to use DVD decryptor - Make a ISO image of your disc using the image read option - This will save the image of your disc onto your hard drive once this is done use the image write option within DVD Decryptor to write to another recordable disc - By the way to get better compatibility for reading in standalone players it is best to use either +R or -R media rather than RW media. Doing this will keep all the menus etc intact (providing the original disc - The disc you are copying from - is under 4.7 gig).

    Hope this helps.

  9. I tried this method and DVD Decrypter stops at 99% and it tries to continue but it won't go any further. HELP!

  10. Something is not set up correctly with DVD Decrypter. What kind of ASPI layer are you using? and what OS?

I would try using SmartRipper and see if this works, but if you have the wrong ASPI then SmartRipper wouldn't work either.

I need more information from you. Please provide as much info as you can in order for us to see your problem.

Are you trying to copy a home DVD-video? and the DVD is a DVD+R disc?

  11. This only happens when I tried to use the Cyberhome dvd+rw that I made on the Cyberhome 1500. By the way its a dvd made from a family video on a dv tape. Anyway, I ignored the fact that it stopped at 99% after several automatic retries and had DVD Decrypter write the dvd+r and it seems to work fine in my dvd players. For whatever reason it stops, I don't know, but I'm happy it works and I know what to do the next time. Thanks for everyones help!
