This may be a stupid question. Is there any way of coverting the video on a dvd into MPEG2 so that I can edit it on a video editing program such as vegas video. I have seen porgrams that convert DVD to SVCD (Mpeg2) but none seen to convert to DVD (MPEG2)

    Regards

You can load the DVD VOBs into Virtual Dub mod, then frameserve them to TMPGEnc Plus! to encode them to whatever format MPEG you like. There is also a method of changing the file extension from .vob to .mpg, but it is dicey as it only works eighty percent of the time.

Womble mpeg video wizard will accept VOB's and output mpegs, no re-encoding.

Vobedit extracts all the video and audio so you can mux it back to mpg2.

    DVD2AVI does the same.
    If in doubt, Google it.

dvd2avi doesnt extract to m2v or mpv,its basically a frameserver and avi encoder.

True. I should have added that it be used in conjunction with TMPGEnc. My apologies.
    If in doubt, Google it.
