  1. I'm using canubis procoder to convert some xvid tv episodes to mpeg2. The xvid files are 23.97fps. I used the 3:2 pulldown menu to choose 23.97, however, when i start encoding the process slowly comes to a halt. I don't get an error or anything, the computer just stops encoding. I don't even know if it actually starts encoding since the file it creates at this time is less then 1meg.

I am creating an m2v and wav.

Right now I'm encoding these files without using pulldown and the encoding process is running at normal speed and everything seems to be working fine. Are they going to be out of sync with the sound?

I've used procoder to convert many xvid files before to mpeg2 and they worked fine but I have never had to use pulldown yet (all were normal frame rates).

Am I doing something wrong here?

PLEASE wait a few days before you bump your topic.

3:2 pulldown is usually 2:3 pulldown

2:3 pulldown is a TAG. It's put on a true 23.97 interlaced encode. It tells the DVD palyer to take 2 real fields and make a fake field. The end result is to display a 23.97 video at 29.97. IVTC is doing the opposite.

When you encoded your AVI (most like a progressive encode), did you make an interlaced encode? At 23.97? And set the 2:3 pulldown flag?

If you encoded at true 29.97, then you don't want the flag set (won't play right). If you encoded as progressive, it won't Author (usually).

  5. Change the GOP (group of picture) from the default of 15 to 12, when encoding 23.976 NTSCfilm. In the dropdown pulldown box select 23.976.

Procoder hangs when encoding ntscfilm with pulldown with a gop of 15.
