  1. I have burned several VCDs before but I have this one movie file sitting on my hard disk that I can't do a thing about it. It is 1 hour 35 minutes long and takes 1.4GB in VCD compliant MPG. My CD burner won't handle that large, not that it matters as I don't have any blank CD-R bigger than 80 minutes.

What would you recommend for cutting up the MPG so that I could fit them, preferably on 74 or smaller as I don't know if my DVD player is 80 minutes capable. I'd prefer some control on where the cutting is as I don't want the program to cut blindly and end up snipping in the middle of a dialoug.

    TIA

  3. I should have been clearer in my last post. I use Windows XP and I found a lot of older programs often don't work right or not at all. I tried using TMPGEnc and while it did cut the video, it doesn't change the time. For example when I cut the video at about 1 hou mark and make the remaining 30 minutes into separate file, the first half the video and audio does stop at the 1 hour mark but I get blank screen for the next 30 minures. And on the second hald the first hour is a blank. Still won't fit on 2 CDs. I tried iFilmEdit as well but the only screen that comes up is a bug report for Microsoft so something doesn't load right.

I was wondering if anyone else had luck with anything using Windows XP.

  4. Sorry about the sarcasm before

Hmm... I'm using XP as well with no problems. What version of TMPG are you using and have you tried any other?

I haven't had this problem personally, so I'm guessing here.

Also, try the steps here for repairing MPG files:
