I think a comment like that could well offend many a happy Philips owners!

I have a DVDR75 &, like many others here, am VERY happy with my Philips!

If you read through these forums, I doubt you'll find any brand that doesn't have it's knockers.

I didn't mean to offend. I've been a Philips owner and it wasn't a happy experience. Good luck to those who haven't any issues!

From what I've been able to find out the Magnavox is a rebadged Philips DVDR880 (U.S. version) with the latest firmware. At half the price of the Philips DVDR75 it probably not a bad buy.
