In Intervideo DVD Copy 2, what is the M-DVD option?
If I am just interested in making single disc backups, including features like joining dual sided discs onto a single DVD-R, Is there any advantage of buying the Platinum version over the Gold version?
I've been using DVD Shrink and have been very pleased with it, but have found many quality issues. I'm hoping that Intervideo's product will correct those issues.
Is it me, or are some original DVD's just done poorly to begin with?
I was watching OZ season 1 (original disc - not a copy) and found the video qualtiy to be pretty low.
Thanx

If quality is a concern you better off with the first version of this software or Instant copy.

I upgraded from gold to platinum 2,and every movie i've tried,i get an error "warning ,dvd navigation error was encountered" and it won't play in ifoedit.I've tried numerous installs and the same thing.I had to go back to gold 1.2,and it works fine.I was looking for the upgraded transcoder.
Why is the old version better for quality than the new one?bmiller, ont.canada -

I've been using the trial version of Intervideo's product this evening and it seems to be going well.
I am in the process of doing a full disc backup of a movie with DVD Copy 2 and DVD Shrink, to compare the output.
Anyone care tgo pipe in about the M-DVD option? -
Both of the movies I did with platinun 2 were full of artifacts throughout. I have the first version and never had this problem. After you use this software beware of artifacts.

I've done three movie to review with Plat. 2 and only looked at certain scenes, but have encounter no apparent artifacts with any s/w I've used.
BTW pls post which you think is better SteelSpy. I favored DVDCopy 2 Plat trail to Recode 2. Although I'm seeing micro focusing in and out on certain objects (on the computer screen). I suppose you could consider that artifacts. -
I just reviewed several scenes from the Two Towers Extended Version Disc 1. I did full disc backups with DVD Shrink & Intervideo DVD Copy 2.
I was surprised by the results after reading the recent article at:

I fully expected DVD Copy 2 to blow DVD Shrink out of the water.
This did NOT happen. Actually, what I found was a pretty even match.
At 2:00 minutes in to the movie, when Gandlaf is fighting the Balrog on the bridge, I actually saw more artifacting with DVD Copy 2 than with Shrink. The results were very close though. I watched these scenes OVER & OVER to make sure I was looking at all of the details. Step framing through the scene.
At around 36:30 into the movie, where Aragorn, Legolas & Gimili find the burning orc pile, I did another comparison. This time I think DVD Copy 2 eeked a win over Shrink, but again, only by a slight margin. Again, I watched these scenes OVER & OVER.
I chose these scenes because I've noticed that smoke and flames really throw these transcoders for a loop.
I'll try this test again with the opening scenes from Apocalypse Now.
As I recall, the smoke floating across the scene with the palm trees swaying in the distance really beat up DVD Shrink when I tried it months ago.
Is there a trial version of DVD Copy 2 v1.2 ?? I'd be willing to sacrifice time for quality.
I tried Nero Recode a month ago. I didn't find any advantage to it over DVD Shrink.
I am really bummed out. I thought DVD Copy 2 was going to be my new tool of choice.
But with the results I just got, I am gonna probably stay with Shrink instead of paying for DVD Copy 2 when my trial expires. -
There has been a lot of discussion going on about this test
http://dvd.box.sk/articles8.php?stranka=1
When you look at the pictures, DVD Copy 2 has the exact same pictures as the original, no difference what so ever. They are alike also in a bit by bit comparison. Therefore some have concluded that the test is in fact blundered up pretty bad and the author has mixed up pictures and is using the originals as the DVD Copy samples...on purpose? Who knows. Maybe they get kick backs from Intervideo
I was also disappointed with the results of DVD Copy. No where near the original quality. I think we´ve been had..."This is true in all walks of life: Man takes care of the quantity, woman the quality."
