  1. I have never used a cd-rw disc before and not sure how to burn it because i have only used cd-r's. Do I have to do anything prior to burning the cd-rw? because when I try to burn a movie to the cd-rw disk using nero 5.5 the cd is ejected and say's "insert a writable format cd-r/cd-rw" I don't know what's going on and I am using a:

    Samsung cd-r/cd-rw sw-224b (It DOES read cd-rw's I checked)
    Windows XP home
    And a Memorex cd-rw disc

I am also burning it at a low speed of 4x. The burner does burn files onto a cd-r disc with no problems and I am even using the same brand for the cd-rw's as i did with the cd-r's. I am stumped as to what is wrong, the only thing I haven't tried i try to use a diffrent brand for the cd-rw's. Any help would be greatly appreciated

  3. thanks for the quick reply. I tried to erase it with vcdeasy and it couldn't read the cd-rw???. It gave back the response:

"ERROR: A CD is required (if there is one, then you may have a bad "Force Driver" in the "CD Writer/Reader" settings page)"

I do not know what this means. Would this mean that i need to update my driver? or i need to use firmware update for my cd-rw drive?

Try eraising with nero. I've got a feeling the RW might be cactus though. Its exactly the same as burning to a CDR but you can do it over and over again !
    If in doubt, Google it.

  5. tried erasing with nero and it also doesn't read the cd-rw disc.

I have a strong feeling that it's the cd-rw disc's I'm using because I've searched for hours on my problem and am fairly sure it's not my cd-rw drive because I am using winXP default driver and there are no driver updates for the cd-rw model I'm using.

I'll try to buy the recomended cd-rw's that the manufacturer recomends
(ricoh, mcc, cmc, ritek, and samsung ... I've never seen these brands on the shelf, and not sure where to buy it ...) and i'll post if that solved my problems

If anyone else out there who is familiar with this problem please feel free to post and help a brother out
