  1. Region free remote hack for the lite on 5005 with the initial version of firmware installed.

It's the same as that used for the 5001... hit setup, move to exit, enter 2 9 6 0 then select either the region or region free.

    Hope this helps!

  2. Update to my own post, the hack works for the most recent build of the firmware for the 5005 as well. When I upgraded to build 055, it reset my region back to 1, but entering 2 9 6 0 on exit permitted re-establishing region free. Thus the basic build (I think 43) which shipped with the 5005 and build 55 both permit setting region free using the remote.

I should try this on the Daytek P30 as it's the same machine...

  4. It works on the Daytek; I already tried it

Mind you, I don't have any DVD's that are not region 1. But I will try out the macrovision thing today and report back to this thread.

  5. Yes, the Macrovision hack works fine. I hooked up a Citizen JDVD3842 to the TCA inputs in the back and was able to record Cabin Fever w/ no problem. If I turn off Macovision and attempt to copy, I get some blah blah' about copyright.

    But, it works.
