  1. Right I have seen many people on here say that it is possible to network 2 pc's together via firewire.

Well they must be Issac ******* Newton cause I cannot work the bastad out. I need to do this cause netgear are shite and their products shiter.

I have pc one connected to pc two. Pc one is is connected to the net through a broadband modem. I remove all existing networks, and select (on pc one) set up a LAN I choose the option that this is the pc that connecs to the net and others on the network will connect through it and then go through all the other usual options, if you need me to tell you exactly let me know. I then repeat the same on pc two. It does not come up with any error messages but I still cannot access the net on pc2.

    PC1 is P4 3.2, 1gb ram running XP pro

    PC2 is P4 2.53, 1gb ram running Xp home

What am I doing wrong ?????

Any help will be much appreciated cause I am getting withdrawl symptoms from playing LAN battlefield 1942/Vietnam with the missus. Yes, you did not hear wrong and she is actually bloody good so I need some help so I can whoop her ass.

    Thanks for your time.

I think you may have to enable the network bridge in order to get the broadband from the NIC to communicate with the FireWire network. Then enable Internet Connection Sharing on the PC with the broadband plugged into it. If your broadband is active on the primary computer and you did all the steps right there should be a network traffic icon in your system tray. If not you may have to connect to the other computer manually through the network properties panel.

I've never done ICS on a FireWire network, only a LAN using FireWire and hubs. All we had to do was enable FireWire networking in the network panel and connect our computers. There may be some awkward steps in order for ICS to work with a FireWire network.

IMBW but Firewire is just a transport method, not a protocol like networking (which diciphers data packets, etc). I do not think you can do what you are trying to do.... unless you bought a cheap hub then ICS would be simple to implement...

But then again I could be wrong....
