Hi,

Not too sure if this has been discussed before but can the (5.1) surround sound be extracted from a SACD (the ones that is also 'CD Player' playable).

I experimented with the 5.1 DVD Audio and realised that I could create 6 different channels. I can then mix and match these different tracks (2 fronts, 2 rears, 1 center, and one for the bass) to create acapella versions *(usually using only the center channel), or the 'AC version' (usually using the front or the rear).

Acapellas could be extracted from the DVD Audio of kd Lang's Sumemrfling (The Consequence of Falling), REM's Automatic For the People (Nightswimming, Find the River...), ALanis' Under Rug Swept (21 Things I Want ..)

The 'Less Rock' versions could be obtained from Alanis's Under Rug Swept (Hands Clean). And Bjork's Pagan Poetry can also be heard without the electronic beats if one combines ONLY the left & right REAR channels together.

These audio was extracted from the disc using DVDDecrypter, and then to AC3 by DVD2AVI, and then to the 6 different channels by Headache. Lastly, these 6 individual racks can be heard individually and matched in Cool Edit.

My question is: Can the surround audio by extracted like that ? To the point that we can hear each channel distinctively ?

I hope somebody knows what I am saying ....: :P
