I don't mean the obvious ones like The Matrix but how about some for the best relatively unknown movies.![]()
My favorite as of late was: American History X with Edward Norton (from the Fight Club another great movie) who I think is the best actors at this time.![]()

Big Government is Big Business.. just without a product and at twice the price... after all if the opposite of pro is con then wouldn’t the opposite of progress be congress?
-
Depends on what type of movies you are into and the genres you like.
One of the better movies I've seen of late has had to be Shattered Glass staring Hayden Christenson (Anakin Skywalker from Star Wars). Nice independant film that didn't rely on special effects or a huge marketing budget.
Also check out the movie of the week I list in my signature, generally very good movies that aren't well known to the general public. -
I'll add Shattered Glass and Wakind Ned Devine to my queue look. Aint Netflix great.
I feel about movies like I do music, in every genre there are very good and very bad and it depends on my mood which I want to see at any given time.

Anatomy of a Murder, with Jimmy Stewart & George C. Scott - just got it in the mail Monday... love that movie. Stewart is a defense attorney, trying to defend a soldier accused of shooting a man that may have raped his wife.
Putney Swope - late 60's comedy about a black music director at an ad agency, who suddenly finds himself the president of the agency, and decides to reshape it to fit the times.
Parents - Randy Quaid plays the dad in a story about an imaginative little boy who thinks something is seriously wrong with his parents.
Bowfinger - Steve Martin & Eddie Murphy in the funniest movie Murphy's been in for years. Martin is a Z-level director, who decides to get the biggest action star in Hollywood (Murphy) into his movie... without Murphy knowing about it.- housepig

No particular reason, I just like these 3 movies.

ooooooohhhh... that movie (along with Threads) screwed with my head real bad as a kid. that's a hard one.
The acting was very good and started Lukas Haas' career.

TGPO,
i saw -most- of powder the other day on sci-fi, how did it end? last bit i saw the teachers had smuggled him back to the house and then all the police showed up - or was that pretty much the end?
I really enjoyed "Living in Oblivion" but don't think it's available on anything but LD.
I'll second Fight Club as an excellent movie.
Leon is one of my favourites.
Clerks is a great movie, again, you can only get it on LD over here.
watch all the monty python movies, but i can see you've discovered Holy Grail
There was a review for a film called "death to smoochy" with ed norton in it, looks very good but had a really limited cinema release. -

hmm, fair enough. could be weirder, Eraserhead is pretty weird. as is the lost highway, that film just didn't make any sense to me. i understood everything that happened, just didn't see the point. bit like donnie darko, understood everything that happened and then thought, "so what?"
maybe i just don't get involved enough with the characters?
ooh, i quite liked Freeway as well - although that was a few years ago i saw it now. -
Se7en. That was cool.
My favourite must be Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels. It was a classic!
The Green Mile was a good film, but I don't want to see it again. I strongly disagree with capital punishment, and I found it quite a disturbing film to watch. It's not often at all I can say that about a film.

green mile...... turns out jesus is a 15 stone black man? is that the one?

Martin Scorsese's King Of Comedy....is an underrated Brilliant piece of cinema........also......the 1957 Sweet Smell of Success, with tony curtis....
....David Lynch's....The elephant Man....is also a great movie..
..but hey, that's just me, and what I like.....the best thing about cinema is going out and seeing as many movies as you can......then you can be informed..first hand.............try not to read too many reviews...........
