Greetings, all. I have several .MP4 files that I'm converting to SVCD-DVD (SVCD video stream with 48KHz AC3 audio) so that I can watch them on my set-top DVD player. I'm using a PC with the 3ivx codec installed for .MP4 playback.

Basically, I use GraphEdit to extract the .MP4 audio to wave, convert the wave to 48KHz AC3 with ffmpeg, and use TMPeGEnc to convert the .MP4 video to SVCD-compliant MPEG-2. I then use DVD-Lab to put this stuff back together as DVD VOB files.

Things have been working great with this technique, but I have one .MP4 file that has an error in it somewhere. GraphEdit bombs when I try to extract the audio, and TMPeGEnc "dissappears" (program simply ends task and closes) when I try to reencode the video. If I play the .MP4 file in Windows Media Player and scroll over the "bad spot" in the video, Media Player generates an error and closes.

I need to know how to edit out the bad spot in the .MP4 file. I'm pretty good at editing/reencoding audio and video, but I haven't worked with .MP4 before and I don't know what tools that I can use to edit .MP4 files.

Can someone offer me any suggestions?

Thanks,

MisterE
