Hi Julio, thanks for the reply. I am not sure if my problem is with IE or what just yet. My browsing, down/upload speeds are sporatically going from normal to a crawl all throughout the day and I can not figure out why. I am on Comcast cable and they say nothing is wrong on their end yet this has been going on for about 2 weeks now, very frustrating to pay for high cable internet service just to have it be really slow. Comcast says there must be something wrong with my computer. I just don't understand why sometimes it works great and other times it is extremely slow even using the same websites, one time it is very slow and other times very fast. So I thought I might just try uninstalling and reinstalling IE. If I do remove it how do I reinstall it? Thanks again for your help.

are you running a spyware program eg adaware it can pick up some pretty nasty crap which can often slow down your connection,do you use a fire wall?may be you can see which programs are using your bandwidth

Not knowing if you have Win98, 2K, or XP, it's a little difficult to guess.
Edit: Just looked at your specs, and see that you do have XP Home.
The two articles above would be a good place to start.
Then check over some of the guides at www.dslreports.com and www.speedguide.netCheers, Jim

julio yes I run adaware and my router has a firewall but I have been using both for over a year with no speed problems. Whenever adaware detects something I always delete it so I do not see how this could be the problem, but obviously I am no guru on this subject. Linksys router seems to be performing as it should, wireless 801.11b version.

You know, someone could be backpacking onto your connection. Do you have any new neighbors or neighbors with new stuff?
Can you bypass your wireless for a day or so and plug the router/modem straight into your PC? -
stiltman, good point, I will try that, thank you for the suggestion, and many thanks to all for trying to help me with this situation.
Thank You,

Well come on then?
This is like watching a soap, was it the new neightbours who just moved in from "outa-town" Do they have a runaway scallywag of a son that likes heavy metal music and motorbikes. Does the daughter look really plain and wear glasses, yet you know that if she takes them off she is suddenly going to look gorgeous. Do they never talk about their past leading you to believe that they must be on some sort of witness protection program after they grassed up the city mafia boss believing it was the right thing to do. Is there a strange car that parks across the way each night with two men inside always drinking coffee and eating pie.
Or was it just a problem with the router?
