liteon 5001/5005 and closed caption

According to the articles posted here
liteon 5001 and its oem clones ( daytek, ...) seem to
record CC stream but cannot output CC correctly.

So if I record closed captioned movies with 5001 and
play them back with another CC-capable dvd player (cyberhome 300, ...),
can CC be played ( of course with CC-capable TV ) ?

How about liteon 5005 concerning on CC?

The 5005 does NOT record it properly. I have this unit, and got this info straight from Liteon.

I make recordings to the 5005, and play them on my cyberhome chdvd300 and I get captions, for the most part it seems like it works properly. I'll check again.
