The DL-burners and media are coming to every computer store around the world in the next couple of months.

Since Nero has already announced that the next version of their burning software will support the new DL-hardware and media, and we will most likely be blessed with tons of one-click-tools to make perfect backups of our precious dvds, will this scene die out?

Will Dvdrhelp fade into oblivion as soon as we donīt need help in ifoedit or CCE or DVDShrink....?

I hope there will be a lot less questions about DVD backup (since all the answers are already here if people take the time to research) and a shift back towards the more technical aspects such as capturing, editing and authoring.

Hopefully all those too lazy to use anything other than one button software will be gone too....
    Regards,

dvdrhelp.com is not a DVD backup site. That is just one small aspect of what this site offers. The other subjects will continue.

Besides, DL burners are only going to create a whole new set of problems and questions and newbies who can't install them!

There was another thread a week or so ago asking this. As was pointed out it will just launch a new wave of questions such as

"How can I get 5 movies with full menus branding from a central menu onto one Dual Layer disc???"

Also there will be time when a Dual Layer is overkill until the price comes WAY down on it.

So I dont see any change, however eventually it will slow some I assume, however I dont see it really having an effect on the over all site. Still plenty of video questions to be asked.

NO! I'd say definitely not (hell, I hope not).

There are still a few of us who use this site to learn and refine our skills when it comes to making DVD's from our own home-shot footage. And then that's only the tip of the iceberg...

If anything, I reckon it'd be a blessing to be rid of those who come here, don't bother reading anything and ask how they can copy their mate's DVD of whatever film.

    Here, here!
There is some corner of a foreign field that is forever England: Telstra Stadium, Sydney, 22/11/2003.

    Actually, it was questions like:
" I want to back up my entire season of XYZ episodes, all 26 hours of them, to one DL DVD+R with out losing any quality...."
Hope is the trap the world sets for you every night when you go to sleep and the only reason you have to get up in the morning is the hope that this day, things will get better... But they never do, do they?

Keep in mind that the technology of commercially produced dvds tends to be one step ahead of what we can do at home...when we get dual-layer burners they'll have the hd-dvds or blu-ray dvds or something like that on the shelves...

I will close the site when the first dual layer writer is released.

No, I see a lot of new problems, new dvd player compatibility problems, how do I convert so the layer break is perfect?, 343 dvds to one dual layer dvd.
