Hi-
I was curious if anyone out there could suggest a really good Widescreen Projection tv. I am looking in the 46" ballpark. My room is only 12x10 so I don't want a 60" monster taking up most of the wall... I think a nice 46" will look nice..... Right now I have a 32" normal tube. So a 46" would be a nice jump.. Maybee even a Sony 51".. But thats about max for me on size and pocket...
I have my eye on the Sony KP-46WT510 its only $1600 and thats up my alley in sums of cash...
I am really looking for a tv that has excellent picture quality. I was over a friends house and he has a 57" hitatchi. DVDs look eye blowing but standard Comcast cable looks YUKKY.... Its all broken up and such? Would digital cable clear this up?
Thanks for your help and ideas?

if there's nothing wrong with your existing set, keep hold of your money. the price and bulk of plasma and LCD sets are constantly decreasing, and the quality constantly increasing. wait anohter year and buy an eye popping plasma set.

I have an (or is it a) Hitachi. Great set. If you are going Widescreen HD, than I auggest a set that does 780p as well as 1080i. If it also does 480p&i with 580p... all the better.
They say 4X the screen hight for the room. Remember, bigger is NOT better.
DVI input is a must, it's the future.
NO, digital cable will not clear this up. Although it's digital, the transmition is ment for a 19" tv so, the bigger the screen the more stretched out the picture the blurrier it will be.
I have DirecTV, it's digital. But they use a lot of compression. There's that word again. They use a lot of compression so they can fit more channels in. If you make DVD backups, then you know what an effect compression can have on a picture. Once you go to an HDTV, you will want to make the jump to HD broadcasts.
On my set SD broadcasts look like Walt Disney threw up (mishmass of colors) while HD broadcasts look better than DVD.
If you are worried about viewing SD on the new set and having it look poor, than go with a regular (small) tube HDTV that's widecreen.Don't give in to DVD2ONE, that leads to the dark side.
