I have recently had to revert back to an old 14 inch Dell monitor - my other monitor died - the optimum set up of this seems to be hi colour at 16 bit. The graphics card is a Nvidia GEForce 2 MX400 on a Athlon1000 system.
I had been able to play all video files - but since the change of monitor can only play Mpegs and a few Divx avi's. Have updated the drivers for the graphics card - no success. Have tried Gspot to see if the codecs are there - it tells me they are.
If I try to play AVI files in WMP9 or Powerdvd the file seems to be picked up but then says playing but rest at 0 secs of time. Additionally PowerDVD will not longer play my DVDs - get the message
'the TV out port of your display card cannot be disabled' - have found this to be protection for macrovision but never occurred before.
Any ideas ?
Charlie
