  1. I'm trying to author a multi-episode DVD in TMPGEnc DVD Author, but one of my files is a VOB and I need an MPEG.

I have no idea how I would go about converting this file, so any suggestions anyone could provide would be much appreciated!

you're in luck! all you have to do is rename the vob with .mpg extension sing windows explorer...done. now it will be accepted into authoring programs. keep in mind that if the vob/mpg has ac3 audio vs. mp2 or mpa (both mpg formats) or pcm, then only some authoring programs natively accept mpg import with ac3 audio, so you might need to "demux" the mpg into elementary video/audio streams, convert the ac3 audio to mp2 or mp2 or pcm or wav then "remux" streams back together before importing into authoring program...make sense??? email me offline for more info, etc if needed.

  3. Thanks for your reply! I can't find your email anywhere, so I guess I'll just post here and hope you read this again....

TMPGEng DVD author won't accept the renamed .mpg file, so I'll have to figure out this "demox/remux" thing. Do you have any suggestions on programs to use or where to find a guide. Thanks again for all your help.

Vobedit can demux/remux, look it up in the guides. Womble mpeg-vcr will take a vob and give you an mpeg as well, it's not free but you can get a free 30 day trial.
