  1. I started out making DVD's from pre-recorded DVD movies and have done this flawlessly using Nero. All aspects of the DVD work in my PC and on all stand alone DVD players I have tried.

However, when I try to make a DVD using captured video from a camcorder with the Nero software, the DVD plays back on my PC without any problems. It does not playback on any of the stand alone DVD players though. The main menu comes up, but when you select a scene, it just freezes up and does not play.

I have tried different discs and recording speeds but I still cant create a DVD from home movies that will play on stand alone DVD players.

Does anyone have a solution for this.

What components did you use to capture/encode/author/burns ? Details of same should help prob solving...

  3. I use NeroVision Express 2 for everything (capture, burn, encode, etc...). It's an all in one package that walks you through the whold process.

  4. I figured out my problem

I was having a "menu freeze" problem on DVD's that I was making from video recorded with a mini-DV camcorder. I think I have it figured out now.

It turns out that when I was capturing the video from the camcorder using Nero, the input format automatically defaulted to mini-DV (I'm assuming because it can detect the type of input device you are using). After scrolling through the list of options I changed the input format form "mini DV" to "DVD-video". Once I did this, the video capture quality improved, the transcoding time dramatically decreased, and the "menu freeze" problem went away.

    Hip Hip Hoooooray....

    I'm in business now....
