I currently have a widescreen dv avi file that plays widescreen in premiere 6.5 and media player. What I'm trying to do is convert this widescreen avi to a widescreen mov.

When I try to convert it to a mov via premiere, the file is fine and plays widescreen while in premiere. But if I play that file in Quicktime, the picture is squashed to a 4:3 Ratio.

How can I convert it to proper widescreen so when I play it in Quicktime it is actually widescreen? (similar to how movie trailers are when downloaded from the net)

P.S. Yes, the avi file is a proper captured 16:9 widescreen file, not a fake widescreen that I made.

i don't think the .mov format supports 16:9 format. the two options then would be to either encode to 1024x576 or 720x384., to give you hte right aspect on a PC monitor.

obviously the figures would be 864x480 or 720x320 for NTSC
