I have several avi's I want to burn as vcd's and normally use nero express to do this. Now for some odd reason everytime I try to add the files to be burned Nero shuts down. Can anyone suggest a good burning software that will convert these files for me?

    Use TMPGenc to convert.
    And Nero to burn.

Yep. TMPGEnc will do the job.
    If in doubt, Google it.

The problem is nero keeps shutting down when I select the files to burn.

Have you 'converted' the files to Mpeg1 before dragging them to Nero ?

if they're mpeg 2 and you don't have the mpeg2 plug in for nero, it will shut down

A lot of people tend to frown at these 'all in one' type of programmes . I think the general concensus here is that the best way is to perform the tasks with dedicated software . i.e. if you want to convert you should use a dedicated encoder . Then use a burning software to burn .

If you want an all is one that does a good job , good luck.

Anyway see what other people have to say.

BTW Mpeg2 is SVCD and DVD . Nothing to do with VCD

Ok I have downloaded TMPGEnc but how do I set it up I tried using it on a file. The original was a 351mb avi the mpeg it made was 1.3 gigs what did I do wrong? I want this file on cdr. Also it has no sound.
