    Yea but who makes these? I havent heard many good things about this media, and unless someone verifies the Manufacturer's ID, I would hold off. I hear Walmart has Maxell 15 discs DVD-R spindles on sale. Those are a good buy.

    Are my fellow Canucks maxell crazed or what? Whatever works well for you, and plays 6 months later can be considered good media. Don't get stuck on one brand. The ID for the Eworks is AN32, as listed above. They go under the "Sky" brand. I tried a 10 pack sometime ago, and well, they work. No coasters,no playback issues that I can recall, burned on my Pioneer 105. A few to the 4.4 GIG limit. I'd still buy Ritek 4x(they all play fine a year later) over them for the same price. Maxells although excellent are still more expensive media. The AV quality if you scrutinize between them and Riteks(using same software) is the same.

    I wouldn't say we are "maxell crazy" or anything, heh, but we are concerned with quality.

    Maxell in IMHO (and many others) is right up there as the "best of the best". So in going with this media you save all the hassle and concern over "will this next burn work? Will I get a coaster?" etc. Or, will my discs work in the future?

    And at $1.60(CAD) a disc, that is pretty much Bulk Media prices (read: extremely cheap), and there is no real reasong to use anything other.

    Thats not knocking other media or anything, just merely wanting to avoid the hassle that goes with "rolling the dice", and taking risks on less than stellarly rated media.

    Two points:

    1) This media is $15.00 for a 10 pack. The maxells were $7.99 for a 5 pack -> $16 for a 10 pack. Hardly more expensive.

    2) Quality is paramount. My Princos which burnt fine and played great for 6 months have all started hiccuping, especially past the 4 GB mark after a year. My original MXL RG01's after a year or so are still smiling.

    So..why not, I ask you.

    All I'm saying is don't get stuck on more than one quality brand. There are others. I define quality as what works LONG TERM, has excellent A/V with no playback issues. Ritek is an alternate brand that meets that criteria. If you wait around for that Maxell sale or the next shipment you may be waiting a long time. Especially if you need that media NOW. My local Walmart is sold out of those spindles. I'm not going to wait around for that next batch or sale. I'm going for those $1.55 Riteks.Tax included. .

    No doubt. You are right. I use quality brands for absolute vital info, but i have my bang-for-the-buck brands too that i use. I will use any brand which has RICOHJPNR01 code.

    Also, my fave, relatively inexpensive disc type is CMC MAGF01. I buy these cheap, and while it may give others problems, it burns wonderfully on my nec nd-2500a, much better than RITEK.

    Anyhow, all i was merely pointing out was that the "deal" wasn't so much of a deal. If it was $10 for a 10 pack for this manufacturer, then maybe.

    Cheers.

  12. I tried the Kypermedia -r's too, they suck.

    I just use them for testing things now, I have maxell's and fuji's if I am going to burn something I want to keep.
