  1. Which is better?

After using dvd rebuilder I thought, why is it even usefeul when you can strip the extras from dvdshrink, keep the movie at 100% and if you have room, just downsample the extras, and back it up?

I see dvd rebuilder has 'similar' features, but I don't under what's so great about it? I hear guys using dvd shrink first, then dvd rebuilder, but why? I don't understand the point to it.

    Please help me out here!

It all depends on what you are trying to achieve, my personal best conversion is first run through DVD Shrink (with compression off) to strip out the languages I don't want or need (I tried IFOEdit...still working on comprehension. But I do go in and kill the FBI warnings and trailers.) then if it's still to big I run the vob's through VOBBlanker and blank out all the extras, if I still can't get it to the ideal size then I will run through Rebuilder and reencode the main title, it becomes second nature and easy as 1 – 2 – 3, later.

  3. Well for one, not all movies will fit on a DVDr with just movie only. Two examples of which, off the top of my head, are Master and Commander and The Last Samurai. If I remember correctly, each of the movie only were still over 7gb. With movies this size, I don't know if I would trust DVDshrink, handling it the best. This is where I used DVDrebuilder. The output, with my eyes, was better with DVDrebuilder.

Now for smaller movies, or movies that quality isn't a main concern, I go with DVDshrink. It does it nice and quick.
    Blah, blah, blah

Yes, while I was going to try and let you make your own decision, I have to add that if you are trying for quality, there is no other choice, and that is Rebuilder (unless the movie has multiple angles, which they are working on), quick and dirty if the way of the dinosaur and that is with programs like DVD Shrink it gets the job done, fast and without any say but when you are looking at the output you start to think that VHS might have been a better option for backing up your discs, just kidding...or am I?

Also I wanted to add that two other programs that came in handy were ImgTools and the all powerful DVD Decrypter to get the job done wonderfully each and every time.
