  1. Hi all,

    I have some wmv clips.

    Properties similar to this ...

    Length 15:01
    Bit rate 220Kbps
    Media type Video
    Video size 352 x 240
Audio codec Windows Media Audio V8
    16 kbps, 16 kHz, mono
Video codec Windows Media Video V8

I wish to cut & join to make a full movie, without re-encoding.
I have tried many cutting & joining programs.
The end result leaves the movie sticking/freezing in sections.
[yes ... I tried VideoFixJoiner to unfreeze, as well. No success]

The best result I've had so far, is using Wimdows Movie Maker 2.
    ... But that program re-encodes and at a different size [320 x 240]
... resulting in quality loss and is time consuming.

    Any help appreciated.

    Regards

Unless all of your clips have the exact same properties, joining without re-encoding isn't possible. Successfully, that is. The joined file that you ended up with that freezes is the result of joining files of varying specifications(even if the differences are slight). If you want one seamless file you'll have to convert your clips to the exact same resolution, audio bitrate, video bitrate and frame rate. As you mention, this is a very tedious and time consuming undertaking. You'll get that a lot with this hobby.

  3. Thanks for your reply teegee420

The only difference in the clips is +/- 10Kbps Bit Rate. Rest is same.

The joining program devs are obviously misleading in their claims.
Would you believe there are programs that claim to join avi's to mpgs; Any/Multi-format Multi-Res joining, without re-encoding

I will try with a v8 MM2 profile, which was originally utilised.
    v9 aparently does'nt have a profile for 352 x 240

    Regards
