  1. Being a newbie to this................

I've tried to use Fitcd taking 84 minutes of avi and trying to convert to Mpeg-2 to fit on a 80 minute CD. Every file is too large.

For example 84 minutes in, 352x288 128K audio, changed to 320x208x128 audio with a bitrate of CBR 1047 gives me a 840 Meg file.

    I'm obviously missing something.

  2. Yes, something is wrong??? First, the resolution has NO affect on the size of the final encoded MPEG. The size is based on the video/audio bitrate and the length on the source. This is true for MPEG1 or MPEG2 (doesn't matter, it's just kbit/s).

If you're using video=1047 & audio=128k for an 84min source that works out to a final size of 740MB. What program are you using to encode, how are you entering the settings to make you xSVCD, what's your source (you say AVI).
