Will DVD MovieFactory 2 convert AVI?

I have been trying to create some menus for some mpegs and avi shows. When I try to save the project it says "Project Initialize Failure". If I skip saving the project and try to make a ISO image instead, it just makes about 9% progress then freezes.

All I can think of is that the AVI files are messing something up.

Is there something I need to do or change so that I can save the project and make an ISO image from it?

Likewise, what are the precise video/audio properties of the .AVI files?

If you're using "videos downloaded from the internet" or "videos ripped from a DVD," then those types of source files can throw a monkey wrench into the MPEG conversion engines of several of today's DVD authoring applications, which have generally been designed with DV .avi source files in mind.
