Have a HP Pavilion 5495 with Toshiba DVD reader / CD burner, 512 meg ram, 20 gig available harddrive, Pent III 1 Ghz with Windows XP SP1. Machine has a USB1.1 port and firewire port. Purchased a Canon ZR60 digital camera connecting to the firewire port. Can upload / download from camera with no problems. Purchased a D-Link DUB C-2 USB 2.0 PCMCIA card for laptop. Purchased a Liteon LDW-851SX DVD burner. I have checked my drivers on the D-Link USB 2.0 card -- they appear okay (NEC USB PCI TO USB Enhanced controller) plus US Root Hub drivers (can't tell difference in hardware profiles between USB 1.1 and USB 2.0 root hub drivers -- should they be named differently?) Using SONIC MYDVD 4.5.2 Plus which came with DVD burner. I am able to burn music and DVD via my USB 1.1 port without any problems. However, when I connect the Liteon burner to my PCMCIA card, I am able to open and close the drive door from the software, but I am unable to burn an MP3 music CD or a DVD-R The software states "writing files", the drive light turns red briefly, the I just hear the DVD burner fan and nothing else. Pressing cancel on the software doesn't interrupt the process. I have to unplug the burner. Any thoughts on Problem determining where the issue resides? THank you kindly in advance.
