  1. I've just upgraded my PC: P4 1.7GH, 512MB RAM, 2 Hard Drives (40GB and 80GB), 128MB graphic card, DVD ROM and Burner...
I have the power supply of 250W, so wondering if it can handle everything or need a bigger one (so far no problem yet).
Any advice should be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you!

400 watt powersupply can't hurt. I have a 150 watt supply running a P4 2Ghz with 2 hard drives and a 1X dvd burner. All this in a case from Shuttle, one of the cube type machines. Haven't had a power problem yet.
Hope is the trap the world sets for you every night when you go to sleep and the only reason you have to get up in the morning is the hope that this day, things will get better... But they never do, do they?

I only bought the entire package, it's a Shuttle SS50, and it only comes with a 150 watt supply. So no work on my part.

That Shuttle sounds like a Micro ATX. I've replaced several and that's the highest you can go, in that small form factor.

If you do get a better one, go for a name brand. Some 550s only have 330 or so actual at normal case temps, 80+ F. They do their tests in the 40 F range.

An Antec 400 should be more than adequate, no matter what you might add in future. Neighborhood of 60 bucks, US.

    Cheers,

    George

Sorry, reread your Shuttle, the 150 watt, that's higher than a Micro ATX, has to be a standard size. I have older machines down to 100 watt in mid-towers.

I also have an ITX based machine (17cm x 17cm)... It has a 62 watt supply. Supply voltage is also 12 volts. Waiting for a newer nano-ITX to come to the US so I can read about the real features. Supposed to have on board 12 volt to whatever converters for power. And best of all a 12cm by 12cm footprint with a 1Ghz cpu and maybe another version with a fanless 633Mhz cpu. Yes that is right, a motherboard that is the size of a CD case... put that in your car and do whatever But now I am getting off topic.
