  1. WMP 9 plays store bought DVD's fine, but for some reason my own authored and burned DVD's are video only (no audio).
The DVD itself is fine (plays using other software and on standalone).
I am using TMPGEnc to author and burn.
I should also say that WMP9 also plays the authored .vobs no problem

  2. What did you install that gives WMP DVD decoding capability? Since Windows doesn't come with an MPEG2 decoder, you had to install something.

I'm pretty sure whatever decoder you're using is having problems with the MPEG audio encoded with TMPEGEnc. What I would do is either download and configure TMPEGEnc to use an external audio encoder like LAME or tooLAME or start using a different decoder and/or player such as WinDVD, PowerDVD, etc.

  3. Thanks Prospero.
I would agree with you if it was'nt for the fact that WMP9 plays any and all store bought or rented DVD's (it is obviously being decoded by some external/non wmp decoder)....it does not play the DVD's I make myself (but every other player I have including Videolan,PoerDVD and Zoom player can play it)

  4. That's what I am saying , the MPEG audio stream encoder in TMPEGEnc, which you are using to author your DVDs, is obviously incompatible with the decoder WMP is using, or vice-versa. If you configure TMPEGEnc to use an external encoder rather than it's own internal one, there's a good chance this problem will go away with future self-authored DVDs.
