Sony DRU500A Cant Read Blank Media

My Sony DRU500A is not reading blank media. I've tried two different brands of DVD-R's and I've tried a CD-R. This just happened a day or so ago, not sure why, it has never had any problems before. I haven't installed anything new. I tried updating the firmware to 2.0h, but didn't work.

Any ideas?

I'm running XP Pro and burning with IMG Tool/Nero, but it also can't read the blank media when using Windows built in burner.

Just tried burning a +R DVD and it worked, but why is it not reading -R's or CD-R's??

My DRU 500AX quit reading TDK -R 2X disks a couple months ago. It would read everything else, but not those. I don't know why. A few weeks later it started to burn 1/2 a disk and then get a Sense error.

I ended up sending it back to Sony since it was still within the 1 year warranty. Sony- (800) 588-3847

Well, I've had mine over a year

uninstall in control panel & restart your computer.
