  1. I use to convert divx files to mpeg2 files with tmpgenc. I extract the audio with virtual dub (wave) and convert it to mp2 or ac3 with besweet. If the origin sound is ac3 I use headace first. Then I multplex the files with bbmpg and authorise it with tmpenc dvd author. This I have done with many movies and it have worked fine on my dvdplayer and on my friends dvd players. Then my father bought a new Lg dvd player (cant remember the exact version), and the audio didnt work. It was absolute silence. The strange thing is that it worked on my friends old Lg player.
Yesterday I bought a centrum germini 332 and the sound didnt worked there either. What is the probem?
    Please help me.

From what I hear, Besweet doesn't create perfect AC-3 streams, and some players can have problems with them. I'd just leave the audio at MP2 or convert to LPCM, all players can do those.

    Another quick note:

MP2 audio is not supported by all players.

Other players need to be specifically instructed on how to handle MP2 streams. Check the audio setup of the DVD player to see if there is mention of it and how to set it up.

As has been mentioned, any of the engines that rely on AC3ENC.DLL (BeSweet, Headache, AC3Machine, etc) may not produce fully compliant AC3 streams. If the player is fussy, it might not like the AC3's it is getting.

    Two things to try:

    1) Since you are using AC3 audio, the DVD player may recognize this as a "digital" format and require the signal to only be transmitted through the digital coax or optical output. You could check for this by hooking your digital coax or optical output to your stereo receiver and see if you get audio. If this is the case, there may be some settings on the DVD player to force the digital audio out of the stereo cables. I had an old Phillips DVD player that would only play the Dolby Digital streams through the digital outputs. I had to run one digital out to the stereo for playing DVDs and the stereo outs to another port on my receiver for CDs.

    2) Try something other than BeSweet to encode your AC3. The new version of ffmpeg is supposed to be more compliant with players than its predecessor and BeSweet. BeSweet is notoriously bad with Pioneer players. You could also shell out $29 to the folks at TMPGEnc for their AC3 Encoder, which is supposedly licensed by Dolby Labs, and should provide fully compliant AC3 files everytime. There is no demo for the TMPGEnc encoder, so if you want to try before you buy, you can PM me and we might be able to arrange for me to send you a short .ac3 file (generated by my TMPGEnc AC3 encoder) and you could test it on your various players for compatibility.
