I'm looking into buying one of these two cards and I'd like to know which one you guys think is better. And yes, I'm sure that many of you would recommend the ti4200, but that's not really an option for me. Suggestions?

  3. But an FX5200 is definitely in a higher class right? I think the 8500 is pretty low compared to it. I have a FX5200 and I'm pretty sure it performs bettter than an 8500, especially LE.

  5. The radeon 9200 ($65) or the 9600 ($90) would be a much better choice in that price range. Specifically this one.

Beware of ANY 5200 card with 256MB of VRAM!!! Most all of them I've come across are utter garbage. They sell you on the increased memory but the PCB is far inferior to a branded 5200. Also most of those with 128MB of VRAM use faster RAM and faster clocks than those 5200s with 256MB. I highly recommend the PNY 5200. It can be had for $100US and gives good performance and stability. It will be far better than the Radeon 8500 chipset which is over a generation old. The 5200 is the latest nVidia chipset, just the entry-level card into that series.
