I am using mpeg2vcr (latest version, although my problem also happend with a previous version as well)) and twice now i had an interesting problem.
I copied 2 dvds from a panny made ram disc back to the pc for real authoring. Normally editing and such has never gave a problem doing this. I rename the vro files either to a vob or mpg.
Well for the last 2 times what i wanted to do is join 2 clips that were made with the ram disc. So i have both clips with ac3 sound. I use the join option in Womble. and it starts going. Once the clip is done however, the sound will "cut out" after a few (or a lot) of mintues for no reason at all. This latest one happens at 13mins, after 13mins the sound just completely disappears. It's kind of driving me crazy, at the sametime i would like to know why this is even happening, it just doesnt make any sense

Hi there,
just taking a look at your posting after your post in my "weird problems" thread. I think this is being caused by a similar problem to one I have come across in my research.
If the two clips you have where recorded as separate programs on the same DVD RAM disk and you try to combine them it throws a major wobbler (technical term :P ) and can loose the audio part way through the joined file. It can also cause "staccato playback" / pixelation and throw out the sync.
If you can get hold of DVD MediaAlbum SE (Not sold but available with certain panasonic / matsushita drives) - take a look at
http://www.thewholewideweb.com/forum/default.asp?CAT_ID=7
and search for more information
Now once installed as well as DVD-MovieAlbum SE, (which allows you to perform the same editing functions as the player itself including naming/erasing etc), you get a program called copytool, this lets you pick the programme(s) to export to separate folders which, if mpeg2vcr is playing ball, you can then open up in mpeg2vcr, copy sections to the clipboard and assemble your final mpg.
However, as we discussed in the other thread .. it could just be something that has been fixed in the later versions of mpeg2vcr has messed up its - admittedly undocumented - feature of being able to frame accurately edit VRO filesin which case here's hoping that the older versions are ok.
Cheers

actually it is 2 clips from ram but not from the same disc. I dont like that the panny decks only make their video files 4 gigs in size when they could let them go to 4.20 or even max at 4.36 gigs and this would upp their bitrate settings which are kind of low ( inotice thiings in the final pics it makes). So i record on xp to ram, copy to pc drive, author and then if need be use a shrink app. It still gets better quality then if used the machines flex or sp mode, and it is still quicker then using my much better capture card.
So all i am trying to do is join these 2 clips into one and lately it has been giving issues when using womble. Will try that earleir version tonight---
