  1. Ok, here's the deal:

I got 2 large avi files, and i wanna burn em to dvd. I use Virtual dub to strip the audio to ac3 format, and ac3 audio decoder to convert to wav.

Then I use TMPGEnc to put the video from the first avi file and the audio thats i stripped off if it, together to make one mpg.

On my computer this works great, the sound is all good, but when i burn this mpg to a DVD the audio isn't in sync with the video. Plus the audio is kinda chunky, it cuts out every couple secs....

    can anyone help me???

In your case, I'd load both AVIs in VirtualDub, then save out the audio direct stream to one AC3.
Encode the whole AVI video (frame serve to encoder) to DVD specs m2v, making sure there's no frame rate difference between source avi and dest m2v
    Author AC3 + m2v with IfoEdit.

  3. the problem that i got is that both avi files are like 1.2 gigs in size. So if i combine the whole avi video file and convert it to m2v its frickin huuuuge. So i have to have 2 split up

I'm thinking i'm gonna do what you said about having m2v+ac3 and making sure that the m2v and the avi have the same frame rate.

Which program is the best for authoring "burning" (m2v+ac3) files to dvd?

But you don't have to save out AVI1+AVI2 to AVI3 before encoding - just load first, append next and frameserve to encoder.

I use IfoEdit, but TMPGEnc DVD Author with AC3 plugin sounds like it should work too.
