Hi, I'm having some trouble re-encoding DVD's to MPEG2 for playing on a Hauppauge MVP. The process I have followed is:
1) Rip the DVD using either Rejig 0.5e or Smartripper 2.41. Both these give me a M2V and an AC3 file.
2) Use Tmpgenc MPEG tools to do a simple multiplex to MPEG-2 selecting both the m2v and ac3 as video and audio respectively.
The problem is when I play back the resulting mpeg in windows media player the sound is v faint and when I try to play back the file on the MVP there is no sound at all but the video quality is very good.
I have installed the AAC3ACM v0.7 decomressor as recommended in a previous post. I have also used the audio edit function in Tmpgenc and cranked up the volume to 200% but it seems to make no difference. I did read that in the forums that Tmpgenc is not so good at handling AC3 and it's best to convert to WAV first. I tried this using glodwave 5.06 but tmpgenc complained about the WAV file. But I think thats a problem between the keyboard and chair.
It may be that the MVP and the faint sound problems are not related and the MVP needs the sound to be encoded in a particular way but I cant seem to find this info anywhere.
Any info or guidance would be gratefully accepted. There may even be someone who has ripped DVD to MPEG-2 for hauppauge MVP out there. Cheers.
