  1. I have an AVI file that I would like to burn to a DVD. I also have a seperate subtitle file. How can I add this subtitle to the movie as a selectable feature as with most retail dvds?

  2. Only a few programs let you do this, but generally they are very expensive..

DVDMaestro and Scenarist let you have selectable subtitles...

Scenarist is an awesome program, kinda hard to use, if youre a newbiee (it cost me a few tears to learn the basic) hehe thanks SaSi, Adam, and everyone.. hehe

    well back to you
it think (not sure, though) that reelDVD let you use, selectable subtitles...

if your authoring program let you use selectable subs...
tell me and i will try to give you some pointers...

    good luck

ifoedit (free) does subs with grace. Depending on the format of the original subs, there are 2 paths:
    1) It's in VobSub format (?.idx + ?.sub):
    • Convert to ifoedit sup format with sub2sup
    2) It's in some text based format (?.srt, ?.ssa, ?.sub...):
    • Convert to .srt (if it's not so already) with i.e. SubtitleStudio and convert to ifoedit .sup format with srt2sup

  4. Hi,

    Let's be clear here:

Once you have added subtitles to a DVD (by any method like IfoEdit & ReJig) they will be selectable from your remot controls subtitle menu!

If you want to be able to select a subtitle from a fancy menu on the DVD screen then you need a DVD authoring tool that allows you to select such a menu!

Personally I have never used a fancy menu to select subtitles, but then I would only select English and they are usually first in the menu anyway!

    Regards
