I just downloaded the latest Ympeg (trying to find a real-time mpeg-2 encoder other than my WinDVR--ugh).
I've tried it in a number of programs: Virtual VCR, WinVodio, Fly 2000TV, and iuVCR. It appears to "work" in each, but, regardless of the settings it immediately maxes out my CPU and drops frames like crazy!
Any Ideas? I'd love to get this to work.

Ympeg is still in alpha development and it is really very buggy. It is very promising and I feel that soon it gonna be a great alternative to programs like windvr and powervcr.
Meanwhile, you can try mainconcept 1.4.1 demo. This is an encoder, but it has a tool which allows realtime mpeg 2 capture, at any framesize / bitrate with amazing results!
The problem is that it is not freeware and costs a lot (150$).
