I capture through the advc 50 but don't seem to be able to monitor audio levels nor have any control.
If I could set levels before capturing as one can in Virtual dub it would be excellent.

I have tried to use V dub with the Canopus but to no success yet, nor have I overcome the XP service pack 1 problem that stops the Canopus from being visible.

    Suggestions much appreciated.

  2. What capping app are you using besides vdub ?

I use scenalyzerlive with my advc100 and can view audio levels there and then adjust using my standard computer audio controls...

Also, windows movie maker 2 has a built-in audio level ajustment control in it's tool dropdown list..

    Hi rcb:
I use Ulead studio 7 for capture in Win2000 (because advc50 only works occasionally in XP) then I can use Vdub or TMPGENC for editing/cleaning up.

After that I use ULead Movie factory for conversion to MPEG2 if not already converted by TMPGENC.

Experiments with audio controls on the pc have shown no effect., I wonder what pathway the audio signal takes once it has passed through the 1394 connector on the motherboard.

  4. Use Gspot on your captured dv-avi file and do a "render". That will tell you what codecs, etc. your computer uses to separate/play the audio. and video.

m/w, set up a capture using ScenalyzerLive. Your audio levels will be shown on bars there... and you can adjust your surce's audio output
level(s) - if it has such a feature. Also re-check your source to advc50 audio line hookup/connections

Beyond that, don't know. You might want to ask on Canopus' forums.

    Good luck.

Thanks rcb I will give them a go.

It's amazing how many other programs out there don't have audio monitoring.
