I know on mirc there are channels to get movies that are in vcd or svcd format and i use vcdquality to help me find those room . what i like to know, is there a site like vcdquality for movies already in dvdr format or mirc chatrooms i can go to get them. i now i can convert the svcd file to dvdr file. but i experience to many problem doing it like that. first it take quite a bit of time to convert. then to see audio and video not sync right, or video freezes at a frame and wont playany more. and the source file has none of these problems. this can be quite upsetting when you invest 4 hours of your time to one movie and it turns out to be a waste of time more often then not. so if anyone know where i can get dvdr ready movies i would really appreciate it. thank you

Your post is against the rules pal, you won't get any helpful replies.

DVD-R ready movies are to be found in SHOPS, those funny things in which you part with you hard earned cash, and in return are given a few bits of plastic, one of which you are then legally aloud to copy to your hearts content. (as long as you retain the original and any copies made)
Try reading the rules of the forum, to be found HERE
Your post is in contravention, and if you insist on advocating or explaining that you do download movies to which you do not own an orignal copy....
THEN FRAID YOU DO THE LEG WORK YOURSELF.

Oh come on guys, he didn't advocate warez specifically. You can legally download a movie if you own the original. Ive done it, My dvd for a movie died and they wouldnt give me a replacement at Best Buy, So i found one online. (ive purchased a license to view and own it, and that license was taken from me illegally by a manufacture defect, and given a runaround and got the shaft..I honestly did all i could, including writing the company with no response. ) Its the same thing as making a backup using dvd-backup software. The movie is the same, the intellectual property is the same. So why should downloading a backup be illegal, and making your own be legal? It doesn't add it. Downloading isnt even illegal, uploading is. It is the responsibility of the download to make sure he/she purchased the right to own the movie, and the responsibility of the uploader to not give anything illegal. Thus: it is ultimately the Uploader who is at fault. Its a very popular misconception, If im wrong tell me though. Im not trying to go against what anyone is saying or the forum rules. dvdrhelp.com's rules are their rules and thats the final word about it, obviously.
But as paying customers we do have rights that entitle us to the movie we spent 15-20 dollars on, only to have it not work, that simply isn't fair. The movie industry doesn't care, if i stopped buying dvds no one will have a heart attack or suffer any real loss...So why should they care about fairness and consumer rights? I believe the movie industry and music industry are just so hellbent on "Its mine and you cant have it" that we're pointing the finger at everyone but the real culprits. I posted a quote Mr. Hack Valenti wrote about his opinion, thats the true attitude of these guys. I have no sympathy for any of them. Its really easy to say "If you want a backup buy another copy" when he's making a million dollars a year to talk about how the piracy world is bringing him and everyone else down.
Personally, I believe that if you paid to the see movie in the theater, you should be allowed to download a version off of the internet to see it whenever you wish (You paid 5-15 dollars to see it, You should be able to watch it whenever you want), obviously thats a long shot to get the MPAA to agree with, since it lets a big amount of power go out of their hands. But think about it: You've already paid to see it, so they aren't losing any money..And they can't say whether or not you'll purchase the dvd when it comes out since it's not even available for release yet. But its just the fact that they've had ALL THIS CONTROL for so damn long, to let go of it scares them! It truly lets them believe everyone is a criminal on the internet. Now we have copy protections, CSS, Macrovision, people in the theaters with night vision goggles looking for "infringers" "pirates" "thieves". Camming a movie should be legal also, who's to say the person will put it on the internet once he films it? (Once again, thats the MPAA accusing everyone of being a criminal..see the pattern?) He could just be taping it for his own use, to watch later, which by all morale and technicallity should be legal. It is the movie industry's fault for not releasing it to dvd/vhs. After all, he DID pay to SEE the movie. Whats the harm in seeing it another few times? Are we supposed to just remember it by thinking about it and not by actually watching it again? (This is worse then communism when you think about it. At least they come out and say "This is what you must do, or you will be killed!!") There is no theft because nothing physical is even being stolen, and there is no digital media or intellectual property stolen because he PAID to see it. Thus: It is not stolen. Stealing means going into a store, shoving cds down your pants, then leaving without paying one dime. That is theft which is prosecutable, absolutely wrong to do. However, if that same person bought a cd, and it breaks down and doesnt work and he cant exhange it..He can't go and Steal another physical copy, even though he purchased a hard-copy. He can go on the internet and download lesser-quality mp3's or anything other format he likes, because he paid for the right to listen to his music, regardless!
Sorry im ranting, i had a bad morning and just need something to complain about :P
To answer your question: Yes there is a site that lists dvd-r releases. But I wont give direct links to sites that may or not glorify illegal software, there are rules against that, and this isn't my homepage where I can say what I want. You probably dont want to reencode svcd to dvd, its too much time and you wont get better quality or the menus, extras, dvd-featured audio, etc. Besides the encode turning out bad, like you mentioned, its simply not worth it, to me anyway.
And yes there is a place to download dvd-r movies, but you'll have to look for them on your own.
The rule of thumb, personally, is: Dont reencode unless you know its worth your time.
