  1. hello all,

    1st of all just say that i simply love this forums and all the ppl in here :P

    i have searched all forums and i am stuck in here with a problem that is:

    problem:

    i am running windows xp and i have a divx sequence with ac3 audio in it.

    If i remove ac3 filter from windows i am able to watch the video in totally.

    when i install ac3 filter, i open the video file, i start to watch it good with sound but when the movie is about 15 min to end it crashes

    what i made:

    open avi file with goldwave, when i extract the audio to pcm 16bits, it only extracts at that specific time with no errors (like 29 min of 49 total)

    question:

    is there any way to get all 49 min of complete ac3 file and try to repair it?

    what tool i have to choos to repair ac3 file?

    im sorry if it seems a bit larger my topic, but i tryed to be very specific

    thx in advance

  2. You could try this;

    Open the avi file in virtualdub.

    Select audio->direct steam copy.
    File->save as wav.

    Save this file as movie.wav. When it has finished rename it to movie.ac3.

    Now download ac3fix.exe and put it in the same dir as the movie.ac3file.

    Open a command line window and set the dir to the directory (folder) where your movie.wav and ac3fix.exe file are stored. On the command line type "ac3fix.exe movie.ac3 movie2.ac3" (without the quotes!) and press return. You should now hopefully have a valid Ac3 file called movie2.ac3. Try playing it in WMP to check it. If all is now OK you can either convert it to wav or mp3 or mp2 with besweet or re-multiplex it with the original avi.

    Hope this helps.
