    Sounds like a missing codec.

  3. Hey have the same problem.

Have no idea why my previously watchable VCDs can't be watched now. Some of them could work on an ATI video driver on my old com but now different com can't watch a thing. Windows help also so said something about the codec. The VCDs can still be watched on a standalone vcd player so means they aint spoilt .

Anybody can help? Would save me a lot of cds.

    Thanks

Download all the codecs that you can find.
Make sure that they are installed and that they are installed correctly.

  5. Try staying on-line when you open the file. Most of the time the Windows Media Player will automatically download the needed codec.

    Hope that helps!

Not if the codec needed is Divx.

  9. Maybe the Intel 263 codec. The M$ version of the I263 codec sucks. Try to dl the real one.

  10. you're right, i said almost.
Sometimes, when i download 3 or 4 videos in series that are encoded with the DIVX codec, why do i get that messege with one of the vids if they were all encoded with the same codec?

  11. I don't think video 1,2, and 4 are gonna be encoded with the DIVX codec and 3 with the I263 codec.....

  12. If your getting that error from a downloaded AVI file then try rebuilding it's index with DivFix.exe. I cant remember where I got it from but its only 300K so i could email it to you if you want it, let me know.

    Cheers HTH,
    Mike
