  3. Yes you can with TmpegDVDAuthor and DVD Shrink(to make region free disc). You may have problems with some antiquated home dvd players, best to view on a computer dvd player where pal and ntsc are not a big deal.

  4. I don't want to convert it as a reply to RCB and I can't input both PAL & NTSC videos on the TmpegDVDAuthor so I'm back where I started. HELP.

  5. if the videos are in dvd-compliant mpeg-1 or mpeg-2 format, use TMPGEnc DVD Author and load each video file into a separate track.

Burn to a rw and check results on set top player.

I did it by using DVDShrink in re-author mode from the original DVD's. One PAL and one NTSC. I was putting the same "short"....in about 15 languages....on to one DVD. The US version had only 3 languages but the European version had about 10 of course....and a slightly different version.

Am I correct in assuming that mixed-rez/fieldrate discs fall into the category of "nobody formally specified one way or another how or whether they should be handled by compliant players because it's a use case the DVD forum never envisioned?" Or did the DVD Forum explicitly mandate dual-format/same-disc support for the benefit of regions where 50 and 60hz video are both found (say, South America... where Brazil is 720 x 480 60hz, but most of its neighbors are 720 x 540 50hz) -- but possibly leaving the actual rez/fieldrate conversion up to the TV itself rather than mandating that the player itself handle it [ie, a player would be expected to output everything with NTSC or PAL color encoding, but leave it up to the TV to gracefuly switch between 480i60 and 540i50 when it finished playing track 1 and started playing track 2]?

I seem to recall that TMPGEnc DVD Author won't allow PAL and NTSC on the one disc ? I'm sure I tried adding them as separate tracks but still no cigar. Unless my memory is failing me...
    If in doubt, Google it.

jimmalenko, you are correct, tmpgenc dvd author does not allow mixed ntsc and pal in any way, there are some other dvd author programs that will let you do that but dont know the names off hand.
