Panasonic DMR-E50S wont Finalize

My Panasonic DMR-E50S wont Finalize ... the one in my living room.
The E50S in the Bedroom had to be used to finalize the DVD-R I made of StarTrek EnterPrise last night.

Wierd .... behaves like nothing was recorded ... but it did record the show.

But I had to take the non-Finalized DVD-R disk into the bedroom and finish finalize it on my second Panasonic E50S .... oh man what is going on here. These units are expensive.

Don't reply with the solution of returning it ... the one messing up is a Ebay item.

DVD-RAM disks are fine ... but then Finalize them is not done on them.

Has anybody heard of this problem ???

I've got it unplugged ... hoping maybe something needs to be reset ... but how many hours unplugged is needed I wonder ???

did you get the original box/booklet???
there is a troubleshoot technique...
hold down the power switch for a minute
and the deck should recover, its like a reset....

It happens with my E-80 H and I switched the media to compusa and also the same princo 4x white top media never gave me problems . And finally try to unplug the unit for 24 hours to reset the machine and that should do it. 8)

The media I have been using are CompUSA DVD-R el cheapos ... 1x speed. But I've been using these for awhile now.

Startrek EnterPrise and Smallville both come on same time ... different channels.

After Enterprise was over ... I edited the title and started the finalize sequence ... but the finalize sequence didn't start. Oh crap. So I used my other E50S in the bedroom to do the finalize process.

Okay ... I've been to work ... if you can call babysitting two grown men at the hospital getting their medications ... work. One of them is a heroin addict and he was there to pick up his back pain meds. I was sent along to make sure his meds didn't have a narcotic in the meds ... Codeine ... etc ... etc.

I work in a Substance Abuse Program.

Anyways ... its 6 PM now ... my DMR E50S has been unplugged since 2:30 AM ... more than 12 hours.

So holding down on the Power button ... can reset the machine ... huh ??

I looked over the booklet ... thinking I had read something about a ... reset feature.
