  1. All of a sudden, using Nero 6 Ultra Edition, I cannot burn DVD+RW discs anymore.

Tried 3 diff. brands (Imation, Memorex, and Ritek).

    Tried 2.4 and 4x speeds

Just burning some Drive Image files to the DVD+RW with Nero. Not using InCD.

It "caches" the files and immediately after starting the "burn" I get:

    Invalid Field in Parameter

And then it dies. It doesn't actually even write anything to the DVD.

Nero's website of course, is totally useless. And unfortunately due to issues with Roxio, I cannot have Roxio AND Nero installed at the same time.

    Any ideas?

  3. is it the burner ????
try other software, and if the problem persist, upgrade the firmware, and if still the problem.....time for another burner....
a lot of people complain about Sony......don't do that mistake again. I know it's Sony....but they suck in computers....

  4. I just updated the firmware and now it's working fine.

    VERY odd.

BTW, before I updated the firmware, I was able to successfully use DVD Xcopy several times.

I have a sneaking suspicion it's a problem with Nero (the drive has worked fine for months)

uh...okay? where did that come from? I have that same drive and have been burning dvd's successfully for some time. The 510a has gotten good reviews in several pc magazines and I couldn't be happier with it.

the last three computers i've bought have been sony vaios. the first one of those i bought back in 90 and it still runs like a champ. the second vaio i bought is connected to my small home network as a backup. I bought that in 93. My main computer is 2 years old and have never had a problem with.

so yeah, I guess they do make some crappy stuff...I mean who would want something that lasts 10-14 years huh?
