  1. Hello all,
I ripped 3 episodes of TV program with 2 subtitle tracks on each, and re-author them with TmpgEncDVDauthor. The resulting DVD is good except there seems to be no subtitle tracks on the DVD.
I spent over 30 hours last weekend with different methods and still couldn't figure a way to make the subtitles appear.

So if anyone have an answer, please help.
I'll be more than happy to further describe the steps I took if needed.
    Thanks,
    Dave

  2. To describe what I did:

    1) I ripped each of the episode into different folders.

    2) Re-author them with IFOEdit. ( Because the original DVD contains 2 episodes each,
so I just rip the VOB files of each episode into seperate folders.) Update the color
with original VTS file. And corrected the sectors.

    3) Fed them into TmpgEncDVDauthor, made a menu with 3 chapters.

The resulting DVD is perfect except there seems to be no subtitle streams on it.

I then tried an other method:

    1) Ripped each episode VOB files into seperate folders.

    2) Used VOBEdit to extract all streams including the subs.

    3) Rejoin them into VOB files again.

    4) Did the same with step 2 and 3 of the first try.

Resulting DVD, same like the first time. Both WinDVD and standalone shows no
    subtitle streams on the DVD.

I then tried IFOEdit the resulting files that were made with TmpgEncDVDAuthor,
I put in the values of the original DVD onto the new files, and copy the color of
the subs too, did everything to make sure the files are compliant to be burn.
Then burn. This time the WinDVD software shows there are subtitle streams, when
    I activate them, nothing happend!?

Is there a certain steps I might have missed? Or theres something else I should correct
while editing the IFOs with IFOEdit?
I hope any experts will see this thread and help me out.

    Thanks in advance.
    Dave

AFAIK, TMPGEnc DVD Author doesn't support subtiltles. IfoEdit does, but OTOH, it doesn't do menus...

  4. Thanks for the info.

So can you suggest any software that can do both? Re-authoring with subtitles enable? Or is there anyway around this?

    Thanks
